Wine Crate Furniture

1 Jul winecrate

Wine crates, made of 100% pine wood, are plentiful, functional, and oh so pretty!

Rearranged horizontically, these wine crate shelves give a different look than the unit below. It doesn’t really matter to me. I LOVE these crates!

Putting them on the wall to make a shelving unit is pure genius. If I didn’t live in an apartment, I would have done this long time ago.

I’ve already used wine corks to make a jewelry display board, why not use the case, right?

O-H-I-O!

10 Oct

(It’s) round on the ends and high in the middle – O-HI-O! I couldn’t help it. I’m a Buckeye! However, this time I won’t be talking about football or the dance team. Instead, I’m cheering for  APOC – or A Piece Of Cleveland!

APOC, part of a deconstruction movement in the Northeast area of Ohio, rescues wood and other materials from demolished homes and uses them to build furniture. Because they are passionate about preserving the history of Cleveland, each piece of furniture comes with a Rebirth Certificate detailing the history of the wood/materials.

Redressing the Dresser

9 May

I am NEVER passing another drawer again! These talented artists not only gave new life to old drawers, but they flipped it like gymnast Dominique Dawes at the 1991 U.S Nationals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHPeidWEaaU&feature=related.

Myriah Scruggs and Nadia Yaron of Nightwood, a Brooklyn-based business, specialize in reconstructed furniture and textiles. Not only do they make custom furniture, but they offer interior decoration and renovation. Don’t just limit these ladies to dressers. They recreate tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, etc. Visit them at www.nightwoodny.com

Shub Laden, German for “drawers” specifically focuses on drawers. Although they don’t show step by step how they did it, they do share that the encasements are created for the drawers. Visit them at www.shubladen.de/

Rupert Blanchard, a London-based artist, has been collecting drawers for about 5 years! Rupert’s site is www.stylingandsalvage.blogspot.com.

I’m in LOVE with Valentine Loellmann’s drawer/table. He’s got other projects so be sure to visit Valentine’s site at http://www.valentinloellmann.de/index.html
